In over 20 years leading IT Projects and Initiatives, i often realized that there is this grey area of People getting into a situation of Burnout or at least starting out to get there. As a PjM, you have responsibility to identify early and take care of them - as each of them are part of your team. Caring and supporting the team all over is one of the key tops a good PjM needs to be aware of.
So what i am talking about?
Identified by the psychilogist Herbert Freudenberger in the 70´s, burnout describes a severe stress condition that leads to severe physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion.
Much worse than ordinary fatigue, burnout makes it challenging for people to cope with stress and handle day-to-day responsibilities. People experiencing burnout often feel like they have nothing left to give and may dread getting out of bed each morning. They may even adopt a pessimistic outlook toward life and feel hopeless. Burnout doesn’t go away on its own and, if left untreated, it can lead to serious physical and psychological illnesses like depression, heart disease, and diabetes.
And what can i do?
With educational background from BTB University, i help match IT workers challenges against best practice prevention activities - to help you and the team!
